玉手箱の声
人には人生を変えてしまうような出あいが有る。
オーストリアの作家ツヴァイクは、偶然の巡り会いからロマン・ロランの小説『ジャン・クリストフ』と出あう。
ツヴァイクは小説に引き込まれた・・・ロマン・ロランとはその後の人生の最良の友となった。
芸術家には、ひらめきをつかみ、美を創造する瞬間が有る。
同様に歴史にも決定的な時がある。それをツヴァイクは『人類の星の時間』と呼んだ。
星の瞬きのように鋭い光を放つ歴史が動く瞬間だ。
またツヴァイクは『すべての危機は 創造する人間にとっては運命の贈り物である』
大きな運命的瞬間「尻込みする者」を押し返し「大胆な者」に手を差し延べるという。
一人の人間にも『星の時間』と『運命の贈り物』があるように思える。
美しいふるさと日本の原風景や伝統文化が私も大好きだ。
この半世紀、日本そのものが劇的に変貌してそれは未だ留まらない。
ある朝、それを 今撮らねば残せない世界との 出あい と直感し被写体とする決断をした。
被写体となられた人々と出あい、プラチナプリントと出あい、雁皮紙に出あった。
無垢な雁皮紙を饒舌な語り部ヘと命吹き込むプラチナプリント、幸福なる仕業。
私の作品も『星の時間』と『運命の贈り物』で彩られたのであろうか。
この作品は日本の伝統美を玉手箱に秘められた声に託してみた。
玉手箱と言えばそう、浦島太郎である。
竜宮城から現実世界に戻る浦島太郎は「絶対に開けてはならぬ」と言われて玉手箱を受けとる。
しかし浦島太郎は禁を破って箱をあけてしまい、、、は誰もが知っているお伽噺だ。
玉手箱にはいくつかの定説が有ったようだ。
浦島太郎が竜宮城での愛を裏切り地上の娘と結婚しようとした時の復讐の手段であったとか。

Voice of casket
An encounter can change a person’s life.
An Austrian writer Zweig unexpectedly encountered to the “Jean Christophe” of Romain Rolland.
He was drawn into the novel…Later he and Rolland became best friends of their lives.
For artists, there are some moments that they capture an inspiration and create beauty.
In the same way, for history, there are decisive moments.
Zweig called it “the time of stars of humanity”: the moment that shoots sharp light like the blink of stars, and that the history moves.
He also said, ”every crisis is a gift of fate for a creator”.
A great fateful moment, it pushes back those who flinch and reach out for those who are daring.
It seems that there are the “time of stars” and “the gift of fate” in a person as well.
I love beautiful original landscape and traditional culture of my home country.
In this past half century, Japan itself has dramatically changed and yet the change doesn’t stop.
One morning, I got an intuition that there are encounters to the world that cannot be preserved if I don't take their photos now, and therefore I decided to shoot the changing Japan for the subject of my works.
I’ve been encountered to people who became the subject of my works, to platinum print, and to Ganpi paper.
Pure Ganpi paper bring the platinum print life.
It is as if the “time of stars” and the “gift of life” have appeared in my works.
I expressed the Japanese traditional beauty as the voice kept inside of casket.
For many Japanese people, a casket remind them of a casket from a Urashima Taro, the Japanese fairytale, which is about, the young man who rescued a bullied turtle and as a reward, the turtle guided him to palace under the sea, where he got treated very well.
When he was about to come back from the sea world, a princess of the palace gave him a casket, being told that it should never be opened. However he breaks the ban and opens it…. It is a well-known fairytale in Japan.
I hear there were some theory about the casket.
One of them is that the casket was a way for the princess to revenge to the young man for abandoned her and tried to marry a girl from the ground.
However, here, I would like to consider the casket as a mysterious box that can keep the time of love.
You might be able to have conversation with the voice.
